Each April, National Public Health Week shines a spotlight on the importance of building healthier communities through prevention and partnership.

At Central City Health, as we work to serve Detroit and Wayne County residents every day, these principles are not just highlighted for one week; they guide our work year-round.

Public health begins with access. CCH is committed to providing high-quality services to all patients, regardless of their insurance status. This open-door approach ensures that more people can receive the care they need before small concerns become serious health issues.

Prevention is another cornerstone of public health — and a key focus at CCH. Through routine check-ups, screenings, vaccinations, and health education, our team works proactively to keep patients healthy. But we know that health extends beyond the exam room.

That’s why our integrated care model includes behavioral health services and connections to community resources — including partner nonprofits and businesses such as COTS Detroit and Humble Design — to support not only physical and mental health needs, but also housing, employment and more.

“Public health is about more than medicine — it’s about opportunity and connection,” said Dr. Kimberly Farrow-Felton, CEO and President of Central City Health. “At Central City Health, we believe everyone deserves the chance to live a healthy life, no matter their circumstances. By working together with our patients and community partners, we’re helping to create a healthier and better Detroit for all.”

As we recognize National Public Health Week, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing public health — not just this week, but every day — for the communities we are proud to serve.
