This health awareness and entertainment event will provide a variety of health screenings, services and activities, with a special focus on serving Detroit’s LGBTQ+ community, along with an incredible line-up of DJ performances

DETROIT — Central City Health, in partnership with Long Live the Deejay, will host the inaugural Long Live Health event, set to take place from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, August 30, at Eastern Market Shed 3, located at 2698 Russell, Detroit. This groundbreaking health awareness fair and entertainment event will offer attendees a full day of health screenings, educational workshops, fitness activities, and top-tier entertainment featuring an incredible line-up of local DJs.

 

The Long Live Health event is specially designed to support the LGBTQ+ community, particularly gay and bisexual men, as well as other marginalized groups who are at greater risk for HIV transmission. Attendees will have access to a comprehensive range of HIV prevention and education services, including free HIV testing and counseling, information and access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) medication, condom and lubricant distribution, mental health services, among other offerings.

 

Attendees also will have access to various health screenings, such as tests for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, vision, hearing, BMI, and body fat analysis. Additional services include mental health assessments, sexual health education, substance use disorder resources, and vaccination services. Participants can join in the fitness boot camp and Zumba classes scheduled at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Additionally, there will be interactive fun with health-promoting games, activities, workshops, and demonstrations throughout the day.

Guests can explore over 100 vendors and savor a variety of healthy food options. The event will be energized by the beats of 13 of Detroit's finest DJs, including DJ Lynda Carter, DJ Rue, DJ Dot, DJ Zaneta Alvarez, DJ Earl Mixxin Mckinney, DJ Gabe Gonzalez, Nick Speed, Dez Andres, Don Q, DJ Fingers, Gary Chandler, DJ Zap and Waxtaxn’Dre.
