On July 24, Central City Health partnered with Muslim Family Services ICNA Relief Michigan to host a mobile health unit activation, bringing compassionate, community-centered care directly to individuals and families in a familiar and trusted environment.

Held on-site at the Muslim Family Services center in Hamtramck, Michigan, the activation provided a variety of essential health services, including dental and primary care consultations, health assessments, and connections to follow-up care. Several attendees were also scheduled for future appointments either at Central City Health’s main location or during the mobile unit’s return visit in August.

"This partnership reflects our mission of removing barriers to care and meeting people where they are," said Norris Howard, Director Community Outreach Division at Central City Health. "When we collaborate with trusted community partners like Muslim Family Services ICNA Relief Michigan, we’re able to create a safe, welcoming space where people feel seen, respected, and cared for."

Central City Health is a federally qualified health center providing integrated primary care, dental, behavioral health, and support services to underserved populations throughout Detroit and Wayne County. The organization’s mobile health unit allows it to extend these services to neighborhoods and partner sites where transportation, cost, or awareness may otherwise be barriers to care.

"This event is an important example of what happens when we work together to support the full well-being of our community," said Yousuf Vaid, Administrator of Muslim Family Services ICNA Relief Michigan. "We are grateful to Central City Health for bringing medical services directly to our center and greater community. It allows our clients and neighbors to receive care they may have otherwise postponed or gone without."

Muslim Family Services ICNA Relief Michigan is a vital resource for families across the region, offering culturally responsive social services, mental health support, and humanitarian aid grounded in faith-based values. With a focus on dignity, compassion, and accessibility, the center offers a trusted space where individuals and families can find the support they need to thrive.
